1. Hay Bank News

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful sponsors, contributors and supporters. We have worked extremely hard to make this program a success and it couldn't have been achieved alone! The Hay Bank Program runs each year from May 1st - May 1st and here is a quick description of the services provided last fiscal year

  • 340 bales of hay distributed to needy KY horses
  • 4 horses placed through the program to approved homes
  • 3 horses taken into our rescue through the community outreach of the Hay Bank
This year we are off to a great start. We have received partial funding to include a gelding voucher program to KY residents and non-profit horse rescues. 1 horse has already been gelding through our program. In planning for the future, we feel this is a critical step towards a proactive solution.

2. No Cost Ways To Contribute

In this economy everyone is having to make adjustments and be a bit more conservative with their spending. We here at MVR have felt the crunch and have responded by coming up with ways people can help with little effort and even smaller spending.

4. Don't Breed...Adopt Your Steed!

Last but certainly not least, we have some GREAT horses available for adoption. All adoption fees are $400 for all horses unless otherwise noted.

*Mosely- 20+ year old liver chestnut Standardbred Gelding who is a great beginner and trail horse. Mo is smart, friendly, and fun. Mo still has plenty of steam left and likes to offer a challenge!

*Jamboree- is a 4 year old Morab filly who is 14.3 hands and chestnut in color. Don't let her size fool you, she is all heart! She has currently undergone 30 days of professional saddle training and would also be suitable as a road or cart horse with her lofty and animated action.

*Scarecrow- is an 8 year old Thoroughbred gelding who is 16.2 hands and bay in color. Scarecrow is a great guy and is very easy going. He is being adopted out as a companion horse only with no adoption fee.

*Macey- is a senior Arab/ Standardbred cross mare who is just 14.2 hands. She is a little bay that is super fun to ride and is safe for kids as well. She loves trail and can go all day with that super comfy gate.

*Buddy- is a 13 year old paint horse gelding standing at 15 hands. He is very sweet and loves attention. He goes well for an intermediate rider both in the ring and on the trail. Couldn't ask for a cuter guy!

*Cowboy- is a senior registered Quarter Horse Gelding standing 16.1 hands. He is bay in color and goes well for an intermediate rider. Has a jog to die for!

*Galahad- is a 3 year old paint horse gelding who was rescued as an orphan nurse mare foal at just a few weeks in age. He is a sweet, fun loving and easy going guy who will be ready for saddle work this fall.

*Little John- is a bay yearling Thoroughbred colt standing now at 14.2 hands. He is in your pocket, smart, quiet and very loving. He will go on to make a wonderful mount!

In order to be able to serve horses truly in need, we need to make room at our farm by placing the horses who are fully rehabilitated. MVR is a no-kill rescue, but we can only house up to 12 horses at any given time. Please take a look at the deserving horses we have available and give a rescue horse a chance today.

While enjoying these nice summer days, please remember that your horses need plenty of shade, water and fly spray to keep them comfortable. When temperatures are up and sweating is profuse, a electrolyte supplement is also beneficial. Remember to worm for bots late in the summer and please have fun with your horses in whatever discipline you choose!

Warm summer wishes from our farm to yours,
