1. 2009/2010 MVR Hay Bank Program
By providing this service, we strongly believe that we can help to keep Kentucky's horses with their loving families. We firmly feel that when a horse can stay in its known environment, and with people who are educated, care about the horse, and know its history, that is the best solution available if possible. Through our hay bank, we then hope to keep Kentucky's horses at home though critical times of need. The "Hay Bank" is funded entirely by tax-deductible donations and contributions. Local fundraising has been very successful this year, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our kind community for all their support. If you are in the area, we will be having a booth at the Christmas in Columbia Weekend Saturday December 5th. We will be offering our fresh wreaths for sale, as well as homemade baked goods to support rehabilitation and program costs for this winter. We would love for you to come out and meet us! We have been blessed to be able to grow steadily in our little hometown and would like to share our latest Farm Restoration Project that was completed at no cost to our rescue only through the kindness and generosity of local businesses and individuals. *Mosely- 25+ year old Standardbred Gelding who is a great beginner and lead line lesson horse. Mo is smart, friendly, and patient. Mo still has plenty of steam left and likes to offer a challenge! *Penelope- is a 2 year old chestnut Thoroughbred filly who is now 15.2 hands. She going well in her caveson and surcingle, and is well suited to be a hunter, jumper, or event prospect. *Jamboree- is a 3-4 year old Morab filly who is 14.3 hands and chestnut in color. Don't let her size fool you, she is all heart! She is currently ground driving as we feel she will be very suitable as a road or cart horse with her lofty and animated action. *Scarecrow- is a 7 year old Thoroughbred gelding who is 16.2 hands and bay in color. Scarecrow is a great guy and is very easy going. He works well on the flat and trails are no problem! *Buddy- is a 14.2 12 year old paint gelding who is suitable for intermediate riders and does well on trails. *Promise- is a 15.2 17 year old black TWH horse mare who was abandoned here locally. She is a very sweet girl and is cleared for light riding. She does well with beginners and children. In order to be able to serve horses truly in need, we need to make room at our farm by placing the horses who are fully rehabilitated. MVR is a no-kill rescue, but we can only house up to 12 horses at any given time. Please take a look at the deserving horses we have available and give a rescue horse a chance today. They also bring the cold winter months and the unfortunate fact that many horses will grow hungry, uncared for, and unwanted. I encourage all caring horseman to embrace your neighbors and less fortunate horses within the industry. By taking in a needy horse, offering a tax deductible donation, volunteering, or just offering your sound judgment, you can make a positive difference in the lives of needy horses and the people who care for them.
