January 2011-  Midnight is doing well in training and is a great pupil! Please enjoy his training journal thus far.

11/15/10- Midnight  will be sent next week to Pat in Cincinnati for training through the winter. Pat has filled out a foster agreement on him.  The best part is Midnight will have a great foundation and will be much loved!

10/09/10- Midnight has been bitted and is now going in his complete rig. So far we have seen a horse who is very animated, willing, and loves to learn! We hope to be aboard him within the next few weeks.

9/27/10- A week of no wrapping an Midnight is good as gold! His winter coat is starting to come through and he is gorgeous as ever! He has really settled in and is quite the respectful and agreeable guy. He is turned out in the bachelor herd and is just fine being low man on the totem pole. Today we started in hand work. We placed the bitting rig on Midnight, no fuss. Caveson on, no fuss. Off we go! Midnight was very attentive and super willing. We first got everything adjusted, showed him that all this was not scary, and off we went! What a good boy, he made us proud. We'll be bitted by next week!

Short Video Of Midnight's First Lunge

9/12/10- After a week of antibiotics, midnight seems to be back to his old self. We are keeping the hind near lightly wrapped for support. He will start his in hand training this month!

8/28/10- As of today all the swelling has subsided but the near hind leg. We are continuing our regimen, less the lasix, and if not better by the first of the week, starting antibiotic treatment. This does not seem to bother Midnight in the slightest, I think he's absolutely enjoying all the fuss and attention and has been a stellar patient throughout! Hundreds of $s worth of diagnostics unfortunately turned up nothing.

8/24/10- Midnight had his teeth done today and was such a wonderful boy! The vet was also out due to unexplained swelling in 3 legs. This swelling is not hot or painful and we had been giving him bute, cold hosing and wrapping. When the leg started oozing, we thought it best the vet see him. We pulled blood and are awaiting results. He will remain on bute for a few more days and we are to give him IV lasix as well. Here are a few pics of his condition-

7/10/10- Here are pics of our midnight all cleaned up. He loves his bath time and is generally very willing and eager to please. He is being stall kept during the daylight hours and turned out with the herd nightly. This will keep his coat from further fading while him and Shadow are separated. What a looker!

6/29/10- Midnight is now being offered for adoption as is to approved homes. We have begun separating him & Shadow. We are still checking references of several trainers for him, once his training begins his adoption availability will be closed until we can determine his suitability in the ring. He is a fun loving and outgoing guy, and will be started in lines in the next couple of weeks.

6/7/10- Midnight and Shadow were placed in the senior herd today. Midnight is doing quite well adjusting to his new environment and the board has begun seeking a training/ showing environment for him to be placed into. These hills should help build muscle for him and we are hoping to line up a trainer for him.

5/20/10- Midnight is having a ball! He just loves all the attention he is getting here and was cleaned up and all the snarls removed from his mane a few days ago. He stood patiently on the crossties through it all. He loves being able to go outside each day and turn into a mud ball all over again! It is clear both horses had very loving and proper handling throughout their lives, they are already very well adjusted. Though Midnight is very curious and high strung, he has a very sensible and friendly demeanor. Midnight has an old scar on his front right lower leg that was from a trailer accident in 2008. When we went to pick these guys up, it did take quite a while to get Midnight into the trailer. We waited patiently for him to figure out it was not a scary death trap, and he finally did. No problem! The board will be meeting to determine whether or not Midnight will go on to show training. We feel he has a lot of natural ability and great potential for success. We will keep everyone updated.

INTAKE- 5/17/10- Midnight and his friend Shadow were local horses who's elderly owners deteriorating heath prevented them from keeping the boys. Their wonderful neighbors have provided the boy's care though this difficult time and contacted us for help. Midnight is a 15.1 hand amazingly gorgeous  Friesian/ Saddlebred cross (we believe) who is extremely high energy! These boys were kept stalled for several months and both have some serious thrush. Midnight weighs 850 pounds, and has zero muscle tone. Other than the thrush, muscling him & cleaning him up, gaining a bit of weight & socialization skills, this boy may be heading to professional training as we believe could make a champion saddle or harness horse. He literally floats on air and is truly an amazingly beautiful animal. He is one of the most curious horses I've ever seen, we are thrilled to have him! He is just so happy to be outside playing! We have them in turnout during the day and stalled next to each other at night. They are very attached to each other at this point, almost dangerously so. They are really liking the other horses around, which will help them grow accustomed to being separated at times.
