Iri

12/25/10- For the first time in the 8 years I have been here, we finally had a white X mas!
9/14/10- Iri is certainly a healthy & happy young steed and we are very pleased that he is doing so well. He has finally come into those drafts roots and is huge. While its disappointing to not be able to ride Iri as anticipated when we brought him home, we are thankful to have him non-the-less and honored to give him the great life he deserves. This horse is about as great as they come. Iri definitely knows he's the cream of the crop and makes sure everyone else knows that too!
5/20/10- Iri is enjoying being a spoiled pet! We have changed his grain ration to a low sugar formula in hopes this will help with what we now believe is DLSD. (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis ) He has puffy swellings at all his rear leg joints, and his fetlocks are dropped dramatically. He is not off and does not exhibit and pain symptoms but he should not be ridden. He still makes a great spoiled pet and ambassador! We are attempting to consult with a university research group regarding recommended treatment options and hoping for the best.

4/15/10- Iri is living the high life just being a horse! He is very feisty and tries to front that he's bad...we all know better though! He is coming along nicely and now stands 15.3 hands at the wither. We hope to progress his riding training this summer and have him on the trails soon!

1/10/10- Iri is our resident stinker! His personality is as loud as his coat! He keeps EVERYONE on their toes!

10/24/09- Iri is doing well and enjoying being a spoiled brat! We have done quite a bit of riding, he is now good and green broke. We unfortunately don't own a cart so his practice has slacked off a bit in the driving department. Iri is a sweet guy, though he has to maintain his grump reputation. He is eager and willing to please under saddle, and has a great foundation going for future finishing work.

9/10/08- Iri is marvelous and our resident stinker. He is enjoying his ground driving work and getting ready for his cart!
5/1/08- Iri finally dropped, so therefore he has lost his family jewels. Everything went great & he is on a path to ground work for saddle training later in the year.
2/13/08- Iri in the snow
11/6/07- Iri is doing great, proving everyone wrong who doubts that orphan foals can grow, learn & progress the way "normal" foals do.
8/20/07- Below is a picture taken today of Iri in the front pasture, as well as one of him & Feint w/ the herd in the back round
4/22/07- Iri is a yearling now & he is such a pleasure to have around! He has been working on ground driving and practicing his voice commands while lungeing. I have some current pics of him right after his bath; and then he rolled of course; but he was some what clean!
INTAKE- MARCH 2006 You may recognize this guy from the top of all our pages- This is Iri (meaning fire & light) our first nurse mare foal we rescued in March of 2006. Since then, we have gone on to help over 20 of these orphans! He is 1 now (3/31/07) and we just couldn't part with him if we tried! He is a lifer as well. He has taught us so much & has been a truly rewarding gift from above. Everyone who comes across his path is pulled in by his sweet personality & delightful charm.

*All pictures on the slideshow that are inside the barn were taken before Iri was brought to our rescue*
