Humane Lobby Day- 2/12/09 Frankfort, KY

Below are several pictures and a few documents pertaining to the humane lobby day at our state capital. I attended with Peg Schaffer of Sugarfoot Farm- my local friend and ally in rescue. This had been my first time to our capital, what a great way to start! Serious business was on the table. Below is the bills we were pushing to be passed.

We had the chance to meet with our house representative, John "Bam" Carney, on these important issues. He was very open & cooperative, being familiar with our rescues and the hard work & dedication we put in every day. He indicated he could support many, if not all of the above legislation.

We also left our information at the offices of Joni Jenkins, Jeff Hoover, and Senator Vernie McGaha, not being able to make appointments to meet with them directly.

As you can see from the above document, the state of Kentucky is ranked LAST IN THE NATION regarding animal welfare. That is unacceptable being that we are supposed to be the "horse capital of the world". I was rather disappointed in the fact that there were no other horse rescues or representatives for horses in attendance.

We rallied after meeting with our senate & house leaders in the rotunda for the following guests & speakers:
Pamela Rogers- KY director for the Humane Society-

Romeo & Family- Instrumental in passing Romeo's Law last year.

We also heard from a victim that won the first case using Romeo's law after her 2 cats were brutally murdered. All & all we had a great meeting and rallied on the house steps with all our power in order to be heard.

We would like to thank everyone who came out, and everyone who works so hard to push this much needed legislation for our animals. We certainly need more people to become involved. Below are a list of ways you can speak out for our animals.

We hope to see YOU next time at our lovely state capital. You are the voice for animals!

Your actions today and in the future are vital to the protection of all animals!
