Galahad

Adoption Fee: $800

6/14/11- Galahad is attending the horse camp held at Rodden Equine this week and doing fantastic! Rebecca said he is a "kid horse deluxe". 8 other horses and kids trotting around and he is quite content! Here are some pictures of their good times from today-

5/27/11- Great job Rebecca and Galahad!

5/17/11- Galahad has been backed at the trainer's and is learning to respect space and to yield to pressure. Here are some pics of their work today.

5/04/11- Galahad left today for Rodden Equine Training in Louisville, KY and will be staying a minimum of  60 days. We are excited to see his and Rebecca's progress, please stay tuned!

3/20/11- Galahad is quite the spoiled boy and needs a job yesterday! We are considering sending him to a natural horseman who did a wonderful demo at our event over the weekend where Galahad attended. Details need to be worked out- but we think its exactly what Galahad needs! More to come!

12/25/10- For the first time in the 8 years I have been here, we finally had a white X mas!

10/27/10- For the past few days I have been laying across Galahad in the isle letting him get used to weight and movement on his back. Last night I climbed aboard and as expected, Galahad did great. His adoption fee will be increased to $500 as his training is now under saddle.

10/21/10- Galahad is doing great and was saddled and bitted this evening. He is well on his way to being backed!

7/10/10- Galahad giving the guys a go of it during bath time! He's a stinker for sure!

All cleaned up and gorgeous!

6/7/10- Galahad is scheduled to begin saddle training end of summer/ early fall. Here he is hiding behind his friends taking a peek at whats going on in the barn. He is such a sweet and loveable guy, we can't say enough how much we enjoy this boy. Our little man has finally become a horse!

5/17/10 Pics-

5/14/10- Galahad is just as sweet and loveable as ever! He is truly one of a kind and is so in your pocket, friendly and curious. He is starting to roan out on his hips and is turning into such a handsome steed! He has buddied up with Little John and helps to keep him "safe" from the herd.

4/15/10- Galahad is progressing wonderfully and is still growing currently. We will be starting his saddle training this fall, in order to give him the time he needs to grow. Until then, he will be bitted and ground worked before being backed.

1/18/10- The board has decided unanimously that Galahad is ready for his forever home. He will be 3 this coming May, and he will be ready to start his saddle training to become a lucky adopter's partner. Galahad is very smart and very attentive. He loves to challenge you. He loves attention and he gets along with everyone. He will be a gem, he is our diamond in the rough...

1/10/10- Galahad is progressing nicely and we are leaning towards making him available for adoption. The board will be meeting on this, as well as other issues this month. We will keep you posted! Here is our boy having fun in the snow.

10/24/09- Galahad growing like a weed &  is our resident stinker! Usually very sweet, he is not so happy about his new training routine! He just wants to be the kid and play in the sun! Imagine that...

Galahad has a long way to go in his training, we are taking it slow and not asking too much of him at once. Though he can be a tough cookie, he has a great heart and we are confident will make a great mount in the end!

8-15-09- Galahad has started his lunge training and is coming along nicely! He is happy to have CJ back and they are learning the ropes together.

4/29/09-

4/3/09- Galahad was a smash at our local farm Expo! He made the front page of both our local papers this time! This was his first outing to educate people on the nurse mare foal industry, & what we here at MVR do to rehabilitate needy horses such as him. Go Galahad, you rock!!

1/28-09- Tundra racing Galahad in, not much of a contest!

1/28/09- Galahad coming in for breakfast

9/10/08- Galahad is doing great & just enjoying his time being a youngster, growing up with his friends & learning the basics.

Galahad is a hit with the ladies!

5/1/08- Galahad was gelded to day with Iri and is doing just fine and will be all the better for it!

4/28/08- Galahad got his first turn out in the sprinkles today. Needless to say, he was none too thrilled with the experience! He was trotting around the front gate looking at me like "Excuse me, we know I don't go out in this" Too cute!

3/8/08- Galahad snow pics

3/1/08- Galahad pics- look how straight those legs are!

12/29/07- Galahad got to meet his new friends (the weanling fillies) over the weekend. He was very excited, though they were unsure they felt the same way! Below are some pics-

11/6/07- Galahad is growing like a weed and those legs are doing wonderfully. He is almost at the angle he should be and should grow up to be a normal healthy horse! He is weaned off his milk completely and is thriving on his new diet.

11/15/07 Pics-

10/9/07- Our little guy is doing great and very relieved he gets to play again!

9/7/07- Galahad is scheduled for his hernia surgery September 19th. His legs will also be evaluated again and he may receive special shoes to help him up off his heels. we will keep you posted! 9/19/07- Galahad came through his surgery w/ flying colors and will come home in the morning. He has stitches that will have to be removed in 10 days, but is expected to make a speedy recovery. 9/25/07- Galahad is doing great and feeling much better. He still has some swelling on his abdominal wall, but nothing to be concerned about, its to be expected. Below are pics from tonight.

8/16/07- Galahad is all settled into his new home and loves his luxury suite! he has a 30 foot stall which walks out to his very own pen to play in outside. He has made friends with Doc, our senior horse and they enjoy keeping each other company at night and turnout together in the afternoons. We have been trimming Galahad's hooves every 2-3 weeks to promote a more balanced and healthy conformation in those legs. He is getting around great as you can see from his pictures below!

7/22/07- Galahad is a lot more coordinated now and is moving around better on those legs. We have been wrapping his legs on & off, letting them breath to prevent sores from the bandages. He has an umbilical hernia that we have been wrapping to see if it will mend with out surgery. It has not made much of an improvement, and we will need to have the surgery performed as soon as the weather cools a bit.

6/22/07- Galahad's front has improved tremendously! He is much more coordinated and stable on his feet now. His rear is improving, but it is slower than the front. We are still seeing some knuckling at the fetlock.

INTAKE- May 2007 This spotted QH colt is about 3 months old and has limb deformities as well as umbilical hernia. We were told that he was "very sick" upon him being pulled from his dam, and he was treated aggressively with antibiotics and vitamins for 10 days. Upon getting him home we realized he has a limb deformity in his forelegs and hind legs. He has contracted tendons and we have wrapped his forelegs & splinted his hind for support. He is gorgeous as can be and we just have to keep him wrapped up tightly to see if he will straighten out. He is just as sweet as can be and just as trusting.

*Galahad would like to thank Kenny & Brittney for their kindness & generosity- they have sponsored much needed items for them. * They also would like to thank Dr. Woodie from Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital for his time and consideration* Galahad also wants to thank Jennifer for his noble name, his lovely cards and helping to support his needs*
