Feint

Feint is a senior retired off track TBs. He is in our retirement program & will be with us for life. He is not available for adoption.
Feint is a 17 hand Irish Thoroughbred gelding who is now 21 years old. He was imported from Hungary and before his arrival in the US, he was trained in dressage. He has numerous melanomas and tumors that have to be closely monitored, as in the past they have affected his ability to swallow as well as breathe. He had lost a considerable amount of weight as we could not feed him forage for a number of months. He has gained all of it back slowly and is now ideal weight. He also had a very serious injury to his hind leg when he fell into an oil well shaft last year. He has recovered nicely! He was originally trained as a dressage horse, but his shallow front hooves could not take the work and it was thought he had developed navicular disease. We have since ruled this out & with the proper barefoot trimming he is now perfectly sound. Though we no longer work Feint, his knowledge and what he has shared with me is invaluable.
11/6/07- Feint is having a difficult time with his tumors as he is not able to swallow hay thus causing him to choke. We have had a hard time keeping his weight on and we are hoping with his new diet we can add the extra pounds and prolong his precious life. This is a horse who has overcome so much already and has such a big heart and so much love to share. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

We have pulled blood today to run further tests on Feint. He is still not gaining weight, and I as well as the vet think his cancer is getting the best of him. We are going to do everything possible to help him get better, we know that getting him through the cold weather and into into the grazing season again will help him tremendously. Please keep him in your prayers!
9/10/08- Feint is doing wonderfully and with the help of our vets, lots of supplements & of course love & prayers, he is keeping his weight and doing just fine. Though his cancer is progressing, he is comfortable and loving life.

10/24/09- Feint is doing wonderfully despite his many ailments. Though his tumors are progressing, he is having no difficulty maintaining his weight. We went for a fantastic trail ride today in the fall foliage, and Feint is so proud to be such a big, handsome steed. He is doing well with Mo and Buddy, his little herd.
1/10/10- Feint is doing well and is staying on good weight despite our adverse weather this winter. here are some pics of him coming in form the pasture.

3/24/10- All the seniors were placed in the front pasture today. Cowboy was kept with them instead of staying with the younger herd. Bub's got it under control!

7/29/10- Feint will be gently laid to rest today next to his former companion Jewell. His battle with cancer was starting to win, and Feint will pass on with the grace, integrity and dignity he deserves. RIP my sweet Bubby...you are loved by all and will be greatly missed...you are the champion in my heart and always will remain so...
