Ayden
Adoption Fee:$400
5/23/11- Ayden's hooves are coming along great, we are keeping the inside front trimmed frequently at angles that promote expansion of the hoof wall and so far we are seeing desired results. Ayden has been introduced to a saddle this week and is doing great so far with ground work. Here are some pics of him at liberty in the pasture-

3/20/11- Ayden just started his ground work for saddle training and so far is wearing his bitting rig proudly. He has really come around to trusting us! Those feet are coming along and we can probably back him within the next few months. This is one super gorgeous boy and we are really excited to get him going!

12/25/10- For the first time in the 8 years I have been here, we finally had a white X mas! Ayden must think he's died and gone to heaven because he got turned out in the front pasture with the girls today. He will be staying there until his hooves are straightened out.
11/13/10- Ayden was gelded today at out first gelding clinic and also got his feet done.

Intake- 10/30/10 We were alerted to this slipper footed horse by a caring local woman who who informed us that he went through the Taylor County Stockyards, but no one bid on him. A man took him home out of pity and turned him out to pasture, but works out of state so was not there to give Ayden the care he needed. We were able to fund raise for his expenses, then load him up and take him to our vet clinic for initial treatment. It took almost an hour each hoof to saws all the excessive foot off and trim away enough to get good x rays. You can see from the films just how close the bones of his feet are to the hoof wall. Ayden is a 6 year old sorrel saddle horse stud. We will be gelding him in a few weeks. He is very nervous and afraid of people. He is not aggressive and has been a very good boy for treatment thus far. Ayden will require extensive foot care, with trimming every 2-3 weeks and x rays performed frequently. His near front hoof is severely contracted and the vet was not able to reach the frog where the bars had grown so far in. This foot has a slight case of pedal osteitis and we are treating with an antibiotic paste injected into the hoof. Thrush is in all 4 feet and we are treating that daily as well. Ayden was very proud to be able to walk again! He is sore on the front near foot but its to be expected. This will be a long hard road to recovery, but as of now, we are fairly confident he can make one. We will have more pictures available shortly.
